Our Song

Poet and I had been together well over 5 years when we were somewhere with a group of friends when we were asked what “our song” was. We looked at each other, dumb founded, and stated that all music was “our song” and then we went onto other topics to discuss.

Later that evening we were laughing about not having one specific song that we could claim to be “our song” and after much discusion we decided that I Want to Kiss You All Over was the one song that we would feel comfortable in having labeled as “our song”

I have been avoiding music since September 4th, I just can’t listen to it without crying. Our relationship was based on music. I mean his name is Poet and I was a dancer, so our 30 years together was a dance and music was a part of our daily life. It isn’t easy avoiding music, it is everywhere, grocery shopping is the worse, they always have music playing and it makes the task of shopping a real struggle. I used to enjoy shopping, but now I dread going to any store.

I knew that one day I would hear the song by Exile of I Want to Kiss You All Over and I was dreading hearing it, and when I did finally hear it I broke down and had to leave the area in tears, with my hands over my ears, trying to keep the song out of my head and heart.

I would like to post that song, our song here and now, I just can’t listen to it as of yet.

Politics or media hyperbole?

With politics being what they are, McCain needs to let the public know that just because his beliefs on the subject of abortion are contrary to what most women truly hold to their hearts, the right to choose! He needs to make clear that although he, as well as his running mate, are most certainly of the “pro-life” crowd, they also believe that the basic right of all free people, is the right of choice! God has given man the right to choose for himself and that man may not ever take away that basic right of choice. I believe in McCain and in his ability to lead this nation in this most volatile of times. He has the experience to understand what it will take to win the war against those that wish to bring this nation to its knees. If he can convince the women of America that there truly is a separation of church and state when it comes to the freedoms hard won by her people, that basic God given right to choose, then he will most surely win this election hands down.

I too am pro-life as is my wife of over thirty years, but we also believe in a woman’s right to choose for herself. One can only hope that the people of this country weigh the facts and do not base their vote on a single difference of opinion or belief. Legal abortion is a necessity in today’s world and any return to the back alley butchers of yesteryear can only cause great harm to this country and become fuel for our enemies.

We are facing an uncertain future and McCain has the solution, a solution that should have already been in effect had it not been for the democratic party’s repeated blocking and voting down any attempt to build oil refineries and drill on our own land and offshore re as well. And another thing, while the democrats had themselves one blowout party of a convention with all the fancy trimmings and speeches that spoke of little else but “beating McCain”!, they had no answers to the problems facing America, they had a lot of promise as usual, but no agenda other then “winning back the White House”. And while the Democrats partied, the Republicans were concerning themselves with the fate of the nation and keeping watch on storms that might prove to be devastating to those unfortunate enough to be in natures path. Our Government,(at least the Republicans and Independents) ,wanted no repeats of the mistakes and missteps of the Katrina disaster.

Hopefully America will wake up to what kind of leadership we need in this most treacherous of times before they go to vote! But look around, The price of a barrel of oil has dropped to $110.00 barrel, probably less before I stop typing. Still things are still a bit high, but stabilizing. The dollar is regaining value around the globe and the job situation too is beginning to open back up. Well, I’m a bit tired and may soon begin to ramble or sound like an idiot or something worse, so I shall call it quits for typing anymore today and try to get some much needed sleep. Shiny up y’all!

Hijacked computer

I’m still adjusting to the wife’s new laptop, as is she. Her new laptop is a wide screen “COMPAQ”, and has quite a lot in it as far as laptops go that is. Not that I know diddly squat about the things in the first place, but it has become a rather useful tool for the girls, the youngest for school, friends & music research, the older one for friends and music and video’s. The wife now, makes the best of it, from paying bills online to shopping online to e-mails and everything in between But the mistake I made cost me a few days offline just to clean up the mess it initiated. Seems I neglected to log out before I shut down the machine and in so doing I left a “door” open for some hacker who appears to have enjoyed his and/or her,(wouldn’t want to appear sexist now would I?) ,little stunt in the wrecking of my blog site and locking me out of it to boot. Took a couple of days to fix things and I’m still not sure I’ve corrected everything. After all, there’s a lot of posts on here I’d have to read through, and I’m not all that much of a reader, especially when it’s something I wrote!  You have to admit…that was kinda funny!

Computer viruses

Logged on to the Internet this morning and all I could get was some marketing add to buy virus protection! No matter what I tried to do all that would come up is screen after screen insisting I’ve got thousands of infected files that need to be addressed but when I tried to address the problems all that would happen is a constant badgering to buy what I already purchased for virus protection. It wouldn’t accept my password or e-mail account for verification yet my pay pal account was hit for the cost anyway. And I still can’t access anything on my computer without this constant shutdown and interruption from the “ANTIVIRUS XP 2008″ program. Event he support pages have been nothing but a major problem to try and access or deal with , repeatedly sending me back to the beginning to purchase more security instead of activating what has already been purchased. I’m beginning to believe that it is little more then a piss-poor marketing ploy to drain accounts of whatever funds they can without ever getting to the service itself. I may just have to trash this hard drive altogether and go out and buy another clean hard rive with virus and infection protection already built in. I’m now a confirmed big fan of not downloading anything from the net at this point. Even while I’m typing this the page proclaiming I need virus protection from this company keeps popping up. And no matter what I do to resolve it, including the eradication of all related programs from my computer, it seems solidly rooted to keep itself from being removed. It’s times like these a man can really come to hate the advancement of Internet technology. I’m about to throw in the towel at this point!

Back in…Back out…

Got back from the VA a little while ago and am feeling a bit tired out from the ride. I had some injections done in my hip and spinal cord, but they sort of nicked the spinal cord and it started leaking fluid so they decided that it needs to heal up before they can attempt the tap again in about a week or so. I’m telling you one thing is for sure, this back problem has been a bane to me for many years and it actually looks like they may be finding me some serious relief from the spinal stenosis that is closing off the already minute spinal tunnel that accomodates the spinal cord itself. Guess I’m just running out of room for expansion along the back bone. I’m looking forward to any relief at this point.

Putting her back in the game

Decided that I’ve been idle long enough and therefore brought the bike out from the depths of the garage and have begun to bring her back to life. All I need to do now is replace the throwout bearing on the clutch and that shouldn’t take me more then a couple of hours at best. The worst part of the job is going back down to the Harley Davidson dealer slash bike Shop where the mechanics are  young enough to be my grandkids and all only know what they’ve been taught in one of those technical schools and don’t know crap about anything built before the ’80’s. I won’t even comment about looking for parts for the Pan for crissakes. The rat bike freaks them out as it is! Well, it does give them a thrill to aid an oldtimer like myself I guess. Even if they do have a tendency to irritate me from time to time.

Say that Again

My darling wife and fiercely loyal compatriot, the intelligent, patient mother of my children…”BARFED ” on me today!! Poor girl, we’d ordered out for tacos and burritos and what she called a “Mexican pizza”. Which, by the way, is what we believe made her so sick. Now if you didn’t think it looked more like chunky menudo than a pizza, you most surely did after the second coming! It was bad! Almost had me gagging there for a minute. But like a good ol’ man, I held her hair back and rubbed her neck, told her everything would be alright and she did it again! All over me, now that was the last straw, I needed a shower bad. Only thing holding me up, was that the ol’ lady had just ran a tub for herself! There ya go! It was okay though, I knew how to use the garden hose!

On to Brimfield…

For several years I’ve been going to a place called Brimfield, in Massachusetts, to set up a booth of Native American gear, cowboy gear, antiquities of all sorts and collectibles ,ranging from the mundane to severely eclectic one of a kinds rarely seen anywhere else. Billed as the largest Flea market in the US, it offers what no other market has. The rule of thumb is that if it can be found for sale, it can be found in Brimfield!
This year my youngest will once again accompany me to the market for 4 to 5 days of working the retail, wholesale, trade and hustle business of the flea marketeer. She loves doing the markets with me, and with Brimfield being the largest and by far the most exciting, she is about as excited as a school girl can get over such things. But she really does have a good time with her ol’ dad, selling and trading our wares with the public at large. Gives her insight as to the character of different people, aids her in mathematics by her dealing with money repeatedly. She has learned different methods of packing and storage, setup and presentation, reading maps and figuring out directions.
This year though, what with the price of gas constantly rising and the frailty of the buying public’s fears about the economy, may be our last hurrah for awhile, at least when it comes to going all the way up to Massachusetts and dealing with paying high setup costs, out of sight gas prices and a faltering economy. We may be stuck doing the occasional yard sale or local flea markets if things don’t pick up soon. Between my failing health, aging and other family issues, long drives several states away could very well become a practice of the past. But you never know, things could always change. And I’m hoping they do, after all, it’s what I do!

Once again…

Seems I have someone who enjoys sending me short films based on the realities that most people don’t really want to know about. Thing is, although I must agree with a boatload of the evidence that surrounds the events spoken of, I do not always agree with the assumptions often alluded to by the makers of such films. For instance, if Michael Moore were the filmmaker involved I doubt I would even subject myself to watching any of his opinionated diatribe. But thank goodness neither of the films I’ve studied lately has anything to do with the retarded lard-bottom of butts ville. Still, one must question just what is fact and what is simply conspiracy theories. None the less, I must thank my reader for passing these on to me. They do confirm much of what I already know to be in line with the truth.

Now for the latest of questioning films that bring pause to what may or may not be believed, copy this link and paste to view:  http://video.google.com/videoplaydocid=7866929448192753501&q=loose+change+recut . You may, or you may not, believe! The choice is yours to make, I only point the direction in which to begin your search for the truth of things.

Hey!

Sit down and kick back welcome to the world of “Poet’s Pieces” here you will find my words of wit and wisdom, foresight and hindsight, ideas and ideologies. You’ll pretty much be entertained in one fashion or another, either through stories of my life in general, or simply thoughts ripped from my head.
Sometimes I’ll enlighten you, others, simply boggle your mind or even send you screaming into the bathroom to pray to some porcelain God. Either that or I’ll bore the crap out of you.

Just remember one thing above all else…
…deep within the minds of all men lay hidden, a source of madness, waiting for a way out!
